
Southern Great Northern Beans
Slow-cooked great northern beans with ham hocks in the crock pot — deeply savory Southern comfort food.

Instructions
Soak beans overnight. Drain and rinse the next morning and add to 4–6 qt crock pot.
Add water to about 1 inch over beans. Add butter, salt, hot pepper flakes and ham hocks.
Cover and cook on high for 4–5 hours.

Turn down to low and cook another 3–4 hours, stirring occasionally and adding water only if needed.

When done, remove ham hocks and discard. Adjust gravy consistency with water as needed. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve with cornbread.
